Aladdin The Musical

Some of you may be aware of the plans to replace Aladdin the musical at the Hyperion theater with a Toy Story musical. Aladdin was set to finish up this summer with Toy Story's performance opening early next year. By popular demand, Aladdin fans seem to have won this battle as the Aladdin musical has been extended indefinitely. This resopnse may have to do with the addition of the new Toy Story Mania construction going on in California Adventures, that, once completed, would mean an overwhelming Toy Story presence in the park.

California Adventure's Maliboomer

Speaking of changes at California Adventures, it seems the Maliboomer at Paradise Pier will be removed early next month. That's the ride with that shoots you up in the air, and drops you back down, and does this repeatedly. I always found a couple of things wrong with that ride. First, it seemed out of place. Pretty much all of the rides at Disneyland have some sort of theme. Space Mountain, Big Thunder Railroad, the Matterhorn, Splash Mountain, the Tower of Terror. They're not simply rides, they have an ambiance to them as you make your way to the attraction. And speaking of the Tower of Terror, this brings me to my second point. Isn't the Maliboomer a little redundant? Doesn't the park already have a fantastic ride that takes you up in an elevator, and drops you back down? So far, this ride isn't expected to be replaced with anything, but who knows at this point since the park is going through a multi-year multi-billion dollar expansion.
